    Fall Conference Notes!

    Greetings fellow Toastmasters!

The Fall Conference was an amazing event!

Things started Friday night with 2005 World Champion of Public Speaking Lance Miller (Finding Your Voice).

Then Cindy Laatsch, Don Ritter, Kathy Shine, Rita Smith, and Kathleen Wesselink competed in the District evaluation contest with Don Ritter taking 2nd place and Cindy Laatsch taking 1st place. Congratulations to you all for advancing from your Division contests!

Friday Fun Night featured a beach party theme with musical beach chairs and a hula hoop contest.

After the Parade of Banners, Debra Schmidt (The Power of Possibility Thinking) kicked off the morning session, followed by Lance Millers (How to Build a Championship Club).

Toby Baker, Dale Suslick, and David Kocol presented thoughts on dynamics, strategies, and philosophy in parallel educational sessions.

Lance gave his final presentation, Losing My Way to the World Championship at lunch, and we proceeded to the District Awards presentation.

The District business meeting was much more entertaining than usual, indeed, it set new expectations in the engagement department.

Amanda Davis, Caitlin Martel, and Mark Wein from the Cream City Communicators hosted an orientation and information session that was not only well attended, but also attracted the attention of 13 non-Toastmasters! Well done!

The rest of the afternoon was taking by two speak-a-thons, hosted by Cream City Communicators and Tosa Medical, a Distinguished Club panel discussion, and a new club development panel discussion all in parallel sessions.

The banquet was excellent, and the District Humorous Speech contest capped an amazing day. Bob Bellinder, Allen Edge, Cindy Laatsch, Barb Weisenberger, and Mike Zelm all competed with Bob Bellinder taking 2nd place and Allen Edge taking 1st place. Congratulations to you all for advancing to the District contest!
